Summer by the Sea

Wow what a beaut day it is outside today!!!It feels like Summer.

Watercoloured Summer by the Sea

Watercoloured Summer by the Sea

I love watercolouring any of the Stampin Up stamps especially ,Summer by the Sea. The main reason being………… that our sets have deeply etched rubber and this makes all the diiference to the amount of detail you can acheive. Summer by Sea stamp set is no exception. Remember you MUST stamp the image with stazon so that it won’t run when you are watercolouring. I love using my aquapainter for watercolouring it is just sooo……..relaxing !I am hopeless at drawing but in this case it doesn’t matter, with stamping all the hard work is done.

Here is the same set ……..this time it has been embossed and not much more added. As you can see the stamp has fine  detail. p12313761

This set also retires 31 Marchmmer by the Sea $54.95

Cheers !

Some masculine cards

I made these cards a while and ment to share them earlier with you.

Paisley background

Paisley background

This one I made for my uncle Jim. He has just received some good news that his chemotheraphy is working and fighting his cancer. I am so pleased for him and his family.

I love this Pasiley background stamp as it is so versatile. You can use it for either males or females. The technique I have used is called soptlighting….where you highlight part if the stamped image with colour…. I have selected 2 of the swirls to highlight. By adding twill tape (which I have stamped on) I think it gives you the rustic/manly look I was after. What do you ? You can’t see but I couldn’t help myself……. I also added a dap of glitter on both swirls :) If you like this stamp ,you will need to order by Tuesday 31 March 7pm $25.46 plus P&H

p32814821 Spiner car card 1

p3281483Spinner card car 3

This is a fun card called a spinner. As you can see by the picture…. the car can roll freely along  the gap. It is fun to angle the card from side to side and watch it roll(spin) to  and fro. Also, the car has been paper pieced.

These are 2 of the cards that we will be making at Friday  3 April 2009 card class at my house. Email if you would like to attend.

Enjoy !!!!

How do I thank thee ?

p22514141Flower noteletsThis month I have been making some mini thank-you cards for my customers. Thought that I would share them with you.I have used  Love notes  (pkt of 20 for $13.50 they come with matching envelopes in Whisper white and Very Vanilla) to create these cute cards. These cards are tiny  8cm x 7.5 cm I think that’s what makes so adorable.I have just grabbed my 5 petal flower punch  and used it in the middle of the card. Then cut some designer paper to go behind it and mounted it with dimensionals off course (my favourites). Then I used my Spring flower punch to cut out some flowers and mount then on top of the card. Stamped and added some ribbon.

There you go, pretty easy and effective. You could create a collection of these to use as a small gift or maybe as a donation for school fetes etc. Have a go and see what you can come up with. Change it and use your Star punch instead! Until 31 March there are some great savings to be had on our retiring Double sided papers most are discounted by 25% . Check out my on-line catty to view them on pg134-136.p22514131Flower notelets 2Or wait and view the new catty for something very similar.

Happy Stamping !

Ahoy Matey !!!!

p32814791Hi ,it must be birthday season at the moment!!!! We have had numerous birthday parties this month. Today, we off to Wil’s 7 year old party at a playcentre. Flicking through my retiring stamp sets I thought of this one. Ahoy matey . It is such a lovely boy set valued at $45.95. So I decided to use my retiring Spring Break papers $8.95 to make a pyramid card. I stamped the image in stazon and then watercoloured it. It is a very simple card to make. May’s card making class will be titled “Fancy folds” and this be one of our cards we will be making.

Here is my original one I made last year with the Carte Postale stamp set and matching papers. Sadly, this is another set which is retiring.p3281478- Pyramid card carte postale

Minimal effort ..big impact

Faux metal technique

Faux metal technique

Hi , just dropping by with a card we made at Karen’s the other week….., where we did a class looking at 4 different embossing techniques. (And guess what Karen and co., there are still more techniques). The one which I have chosen to share is the faux metal tag we made for this card. As you can see the layout is very simple, but it gives the tag room to “SHINE”.

Recipe details:

STAMPS -Sincere Salutations, Figures of Speech (retires in April ‘09 still available to purchase until 31 March ‘09)

INKS: Purely Pommegranite (retires April “09), Versamark

CARDSTOCK: Real Red, Night og Navy,Whisper white offcuts

ACCESSORIES:Embossing Buddy, Silver embossing powder,Heat gun, Night of Navy Grosgrain,1 3/8″ circle punch, scallop edge punch, dimensionals – gee I go through alot of these, Dashing paper (retires in April ‘09)

The faux metal tag is made by applying layers of embossing powder to an offcut and then versamarking the stamp and pushing it into the offcut.Would you like to see this technique. Then come to April 3 card class or gather some friends together and I’ll show you in your home.

Enjoy !

Happy valentine’s Day to you all!

Valentine day

Just thought that I would share a quick card that I made today with some of my free sale-a-bration and hostess stamps. I went for the tradional, shades of pink and red well…. it is valentine’s day and of course some hearts and glitter.

I stamped random images from the Polka Dot Punches set (which is only available until 28 Feb)with whisper white ink on real red. I love this set because the flower and circle scallop images fit perfectlt with our corresponding punches.I just love the amazing effect of using whisper white ink on any dark coloured cardstock…..the contrast is stunning.Next I used the slit punch on the Blush blossom cardstock and inserted the brads. For the card, I used the background stamp from Oh so Lovely(hostess set)in pink passion  just to take the bareness off the cardbase It almost makes it look like textured cardstock.Stamped the hearts from Polka Dot punches , cut them out and decorated them with crystal effects and dazzling diamonds for some bling .Crystal effects adds a pretty high-gloss lacquered look to your image.Used my large and small oval punch to stamp my sentiment from So many sayings (hosetess set)…Great set every occasion is covered.

I can see my photographic skills need some improving. As with anything it just takes practice !

Card Recipe:

Stampsets- Polka Dot Punches(only available until 28 Feb),Oh so Lovely, So many sayings(only available until 31 MArch)

Cardstock:Real red,Pixie Pink, Blush Blossom,Pink Passion (don’t you love the names of these colours ..smile!)

Inks:Whisper white,Real red

Punches: Large & small oval  and slit punch

Accessories:Brads,crystal effects,dazzling diamonds,anywhere gluestick,dimensionals

Welcome from the top of Australia

p1061215_summitphoto

Welcome to my loooong awaited blog. Thanks Andrea (waving …smile)for all your poking, prodding and embaressing me into action.

I thought what better way to start this blog than at the top…..The top of Australia that is !!!! We spent our summer holidays camping at  Sawpit creek camping grounds. It is part of the Kosiuszko National Park. We spent an amzing time together, witnessing abundant wildlife.Even this little creature decided to swim with us in the Thredbo river.I still can’t believe this !!

p1051149_platypusthredboriver

A platypus in the wild !

The highlight of course was the climb to climb Mt Everest.Oops I, meant Kosiuszko. At times with the 60km winds and pushing a pram for 5 hours it felt like Mt Everest but we all made it !!

Welcome to my blog. Hope you find some creative ideas to inspire you in your papercrafting.

Cheers Tracey !
